The awards season has started, with the 2026 Golden Globe Awards launching the festivities on January 11 at the iconic Beverly Hilton ballroom in Los Angeles. Soon after, the event provided a flood of chaotic memes and trending moments.

Comedian Nikki Glaser once again served as the host for the event, delivering a few sharp remarks directed at several top-tier celebrities present, such as Ariana Grande, Timothée Chalamet, and Michael B. Jordan. Still, she wasn’t hesitant to offer an apology when she crossed the line.

Nikki Offers an Apology to Leonardo DiCaprio

During her speech, Glaser honored nominee Leonardo DiCaprio by highlighting some of his most significant career achievements. “The most impressive thing is that you’ve managed to achieve all of this before your girlfriend turned 30,”she stated as the punchline.

However, she quickly apologized for the “cheap” joke, then attributed the blame to DiCaprio himself, stating that the public doesn’t know anything else about him. “The most detailed interview you’ve ever done was for Teen Beat magazine in 1991,” she quipped. “Is your favorite meal still ‘pasta, pasta, and even more pasta’?”

Teyana Taylor’s Tearful Win

The first Globe of the night was awarded to Teyana Taylor, who took home the Best Supporting Actress award forOne Battle After Another and sprang up from her seat. She offered what might bethe best speechduring the night, showcasing the “party in the back” of her dress, then becoming emotional about her kids and cautioning, “You all better be off your damn phones and watching me right now.”

The Podcast Category

Even Glaser is aware of how absurd the Globes’ new Best Podcast category is. Prior to Snoop Dogg presenting the award, she mocked the category with a parody of Nicole Kidman’s famous AMC ad, in which Glaser arrived at an AMC that was closed for renovations, making her listen to podcasts in her car. “Discourse feels good in a place like this,” she remarked.

Amy Poehler made history as the inaugural winner in the category for her podcast,Good Hang, and made a few jokes during her speech. Recognizing that she is new to the podcasting world, she expressed her “great respect” for the format and her fellow nominees. “I am a big fan of all of you except NPR — just a group of celebrities phoning it in. Try harder,” she joked.

KPop Demon Hunters’ Historic Win

“Golden” from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters Won Best Original Song, making it the first K-pop track to claim the award. Singer and songwriter EJAE delivered an emotional speech, reflecting on how setbacks motivated her. “I dedicated 10 years of hard work to achieve one goal: to be a K-pop idol. I faced rejection,” she shared. “Now I’m standing here as both a singer and a songwriter.”

Macaulay Culkin Makes Appearance at the Globes

Macaulay Culkin made a comeback at the Golden Globes after more than 30 years, being introduced by Fran Drescher as someone who “famously didn’t have a nanny.” He appeared deeply moved by the audience’s response, saying, “It’s been 35 years since I last attended the Globes. Thank you for welcoming me back. That’s really kind of you all.”

Melissa and Kathryn Acknowledge Men’s Contributions

Before announcing the Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series award, Kathryn Hahn informed co-presenter Melissa McCarthy that for the first time ever, men would also be honored in their own category, then made a joke about how far men have come compared to women in the acting industry.

Since men began performing in 2015, they have brought strength and elegance to our television,” Hahn quipped, while McCarthy added, “Men can take on a variety of roles. Husband! Ex-husband! Secretary! And everyone’s favorite: the inquisitive neighbor.

More to come….
