Doctor Whoand actor Noel Clarke, known for his role in Kidulthood, has reportedly been declared bankrupt only months after losing a prominent defamation case concerning alleged sexual misconduct.
In September 2025, the 50-year-old performer received a directive tocover Guardian News and Media’s (GNM) legal expensesafter he sued The Guardian and was unsuccessful.
Clarke was said to be asking for around £70 million in compensation from GNM following the publication of claims regarding verbal abuse, harassment, andsexual harassmentfrom 20 women who were acquainted with him in a professional capacity.
The performer, who is denying the accusations, stated that The Guardian’s coverage was harmful and has harmed his public image.
However, the High Courtdiscovered that The Guardian’s coverage was largely accurate and it was in the public’s interest to release the article, following which he was required to cover at least £3 million in legal costs for GNM.

The SunNow, reports indicate that official documents verify Clarke was officially declared bankrupt on December 11.
has contacted Clarke for a response.
Sources revealed to The Sun that Clarke knew he would have difficulty covering the expenses if he lost the lawsuit, yet he “persisted without hesitation.”
Judge Justice Steyn, who oversaw the case, directed Clarke to pay £3 million before a thorough evaluation of the overall expenses.
“It appears to me that the £3 million requested by the defendant is suitable and not exceeding what should reasonably be mandated in this situation,” she stated.
It is significantly less than the defendant’s probable amount of recovery upon a detailed evaluation, and therefore, in my view, it provides for a sufficiently broad range of tolerance.
The claimant presented an implausible and indeed incorrect argument that the articles were not largely accurate, by raising accusations of dishonesty and bad faith against nearly all of the defendant’s truthful witnesses.
After the case, Clarke claimed he was not guilty.
‘For nearly five years, I have been battling a major media organization and its large legal teams due to false and harmful coverage,’ he stated.
These tales began with anonymous emails that painted me as a monster to generate attention and anger.
The objective was to harm my professional life, and they managed to do so. I have never asserted that I am flawless. However, I am not the individual portrayed in these articles.
Overnight, I lost everything; the media outlet didn’t just destroy my life, they also tore through my family’s.
The claims regarding Clarke were initially disclosed in 2021. After the revelations, Bafta put his membership on hold, and a number of his upcoming ventures were scrapped, including the fourth season of Bulletproof.
In a statement issued at the time, Clarke expressed regret for causing discomfort but rejected any claims of inappropriate behavior.
“Over the course of my 20-year career, I have consistently prioritized inclusivity and diversity in my work, and no complaints have ever been filed against me,” he stated.
If anyone who has collaborated with me has ever felt uneasy or disrespected, I genuinely apologize. I strongly deny any sexual misconduct or improper behavior and plan to defend myself against these unfounded claims.
The politan Policechose not to pursue an inquiry regarding the sexual harassment allegations against Clarke.
