The show’s co-creator Jack Thorne received the award and delivered a speech expressing gratitude to Netflix and mentioning the names of several individuals who have contributed to the series.

Some believe our show focuses on why we should fear young people,” he continued. “That’s not the case. It’s about the filth and the trash we’ve left in their way. It’s impossible to single out anyone else in our amazing cast and crew, but our young group—Owen [Cooper], Amari [Bacchus], Amélie [Pease], Fatima [Bojang], and Kaine [Davis]. You are proof that the world can be better.

Eliminating hatred is the duty of our generation,” Thorne concluded. “It demands consideration from the highest levels down. Although the chance appears slim at the moment, hope is a wonderful thing. Thank you for this. We will hold you dear.

I never knew.’ So I took a chance and enrolled in acting classes.

I was the only male present. It was awkward,” he added. “But I managed to get through it, and I’m still very much a trainee. So I continue to learn every day. I’m still learning from those who sat in front of me, including you, who have inspired me.
