Demi Moore is one tough boss.
In the January 11 episode ofLandman, as drilling commenced on the offshore oil rig in Louisiana that has been a source of debate throughout the season, Cami (Moore) fully embraced her role as president of M-Tex Oil.
Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) continued to oppose the dangerous drilling, and Cami told him that she was finally beginning to understand what her late husband, Monty (Jon Hamm, who founded the company, was deeply passionate about his work.
“I finally get it, what pushed him,” Cami said about Monty. There’s a rush, a thrilling sense of danger.
It was no longer something Tommy felt, though. “That rush took everything from me, and now I do whatever I can to steer clear of it,” he said to her, talking about his bankruptcy during the 2008 economic crash.

The “rush” that Cami mentioned she is finally feeling iswhy Monty died,Tommy informed his supervisor, but she had a different opinion. “I think it’s what enabled him to survive,” Cami remarked.
Following Tommy’s negative perspective, Cami took a significant business action. “The head of my company can’t be against the very thing that created it,” she stated before terminating Tommy’s position.
Tommy knew his job at the company was unstable. He and Cami had been in conflict since Monty’s passing, and during a discussion with Danny (Andy Garcia), Tommy was open about Cami’s lack of trust in him.
Me and her husband started off together, so at one point, I had a version of what she has,” Tommy told Danny earlier in season 2. “But I didn’t protect it — the crash of ’08 pretty much wiped me out. So I ended up working for her husband.
“She doesn’t trust me because she believes I’m a failure.,” Tommy said. “And she believes I’m going to lose her wealth.”
