Melissa Gilbertwas present in the room with her spouse, Timothy Busfield, as he was questioned by the police, an arrest warrant was obtained byUs Weekly claims.
Back in November, the West Wingactor, 68, reportedly said to OfficerMarvin Brownthat his wife was on speakerphone during his interview about the ongoing accusations of child sexual abuse. As UsAs previously reported, Busfield has been accused of inappropriately touching two twin boys on several occasions over a two-year span – including touching through their clothing, lifting them up, and tickling them – while serving as a director on the set ofThe Cleaning Lady.
At that moment, Brown determined that both Busfield and Gilbert maintained a positive relationship with the boys and their family that occurred “outside of work.”
They recommended that they didpurchase Christmas gifts for the two boysand were seen together at various social events,” Brown stated in the arrest warrant.
Timothy Busfield’s Spouse Shared Information on Child Sexual Abuse Just Weeks Before the Warrant Was Issued
The officer proposed that Busfield might have created these connections to “build intimacy” with individuals, referring to it as a case of “traditional manipulation aimed at breaking down limits, isolating the victim, and suppressing doubts by integrating abuse into everyday life.”
During the interview, Busfield is said to have stated he couldn’t remember “explicitly tickling” the boys at any point, but acknowledged that it’s possible he had physical contact with them because of the “lively atmosphere” on set.
I’m constantly with people, right? It would be, you know, in front of the parents. There would never be an awkward situation about it,” he said, according to the warrant. “I don’t really recall picking those boys up. I remember picking up the boy who was following them. I’d pick him up and he’d be laughing, which would kind of get him ready to behave.
When asked if this kind of physical contact was usually permitted on set, Busfield reportedly stated it “wasn’t allowed,” but then added there wasno official “guidelines” concerning physical interactionbetween an adult and a child during filming or on the set of the show.
Busfield reportedly informed Officer Brown that the boys’ parents were upset because their sons had been replaced by a different actor on the show, and they allegedly submitted a complaint against him to Warner Bros. soon after.

Warner Bros. has issued a statement indicating that they are still working with authorities as part of the ongoing inquiry.
“The well-being and safety of our cast and crew remains our highest concern, particularly the protection of young individuals involved in our projects,” the statement shared withPeopleRead. “We treat all claims of inappropriate behavior with the utmost seriousness and have procedures in place to investigate them quickly and completely, and to take suitable measures when necessary.”
On Friday, January 9, law enforcement in New Mexico issued an arrest warrant for Busfield related to two instances of criminal misconduct involving a minor.
