The two actors have been friends for many years, dating back to when they appeared together in a medical television series.ER, which was broadcast from 1994 to 2009. While having an exclusive conversation with at the 2026AARP Movies for Grownups AwardsIn Los Angeles on January 10, Wyle, 54, mentioned that he and Clooney, 64, meet up whenever their hectic schedules permit.
Recalling their last dinner meeting, thePittStar stated, “It happened either here in Los Angeles at the Chateau Marmont one evening when he was between roles, or it took place in Vancouver when I was working on a project and he was in New Vancouver.”
“It’s one of those ‘Are you in New York right now?’ type of last-minute, impromptu evenings that you expect to last a couple of hours but end up stretching through most of the night,” he added.
Wyle mentioned that every time the two get back together to catch up, it’s “always from the point where we last left off.”
“The connections formed during that performance are so beautiful and personal that I feel we don’t need to be fully present in each other’s lives to understand the context of each other’s experiences,” he explained, referring to their time on theERset many years ago.
Considering his bond with theGood Evening, and Farewellstar, Wyle remarked, “He has been a significant influence in my life and often appears at crucial times.”

The duo experienced a unique moment at the AARP gathering, exchanging their individual accolades. Clooney received Best Actor in film for his leading role inJay Kelly, and Wyle received the same award in the TV category for his portrayal of Dr. Michael Robinavitch inThe Pitt.
Clooney remembered meeting Wyle in 1993 while on stage to present his friend with the Best Actor award.
“He was intelligent and experienced from the very beginning, from the outset,” theWolfsThe actor remembered, “He was also the most kind-hearted person. We became very close friends right from the start. We have stayed that way for more than 30 years now.”

When Wyle later strolled the red carpet at the 2026Golden Globe Awardson January 11, he humorously announced toE! Live on the Red CarpetThat Clooney’s television medical abilities are not comparable to his actual ones.
“I’m the more skilled physician,” Wyle stated when host Zuri Hall inquired about who was more qualified. “I’m the more skilled physician,” he added with a grin.
