Rose Byrne Grateful to ‘Husband’ Bobby Cannavale at Golden Globe Win Reveals Why He’s Not There

The star of If I Had Feet, I’d Kick YouShe smiled as she received the award on stage at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 11, and shared why her partner, whom she called her husband, was not present.

“This is truly surprising. Thank you very much. I’m sharing this with Mary Bronstein, my writer and director. She created this incredible screenplay, and she wanted me to take on the role. I can’t believe that you wanted me to do it,” Byrne said.

She went on to express gratitude to A24, producers Sara Murphy, Ryan Zacarias, Ronald Bronstein,Josh Safdie and more. 

The performer subsequently disclosed thather brother, George,was her companion for the night, causing audiences at home to question where Cannavale was.

Byrne swiftly clarified the circumstances, stating, “I’d like to thank my husband, Bobby, who couldn’t attend because we’re getting a bearded dragon and he went to a reptile convention in New Jersey.”

“So, appreciate you. Thank you, love,” she added.

The victor was nominated in the category along withCynthia Erivo for Wicked: For Good, Kate Hudson for Song Sung Blue, Chase Infiniti for One Battle After Another, Amanda Seyfried for The Will of Ann Lee and Emma Stone for Bugonia.

Byrne has received the highest praise of her long career for portraying anxious mother Linda inIf I Had Arms, I’d Punch You, recently accumulating nominations at theSpirit Awards, Critics Choice Awards, Actors Awards and more. 

“My adrenaline was extremely high while filming,” she remembered to W Magazine Recently, “At the end, I felt extremely confused. I was afraid to watch the final movie. I kept avoiding it. When I finally watched it, I was speechless.”

Wicked: For Good, the second part of Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation of the cherished Broadway musical about the witches of Oz, has led to another round on the awards circuit for Erivo, 37, who was nominated for all major industry honors just last year forWicked: Part One.

This also encompasses the same category at the Golden Globes, where Erivo has received a total of five nominations.

“I need to go and pursue the things I truly love as an actor,” Hudsontold of portraying Claire and interpreting Diamond’s music. The biopic “has a little bit of everything in it,” she mentioned. “It’s enjoyable, but you leave feeling motivated. It contains so much human emotion. I appreciate that it’s free from sarcasm.”

The breakout star of One Battle After Another, Infiniti, 25, had only appeared in the 2024 Apple TV+ seriesPresumed Innocent when she joined the Paul Thomas Anderson film. Her leading role as Willa, the daughter of underground revolutionaries, has garnered Infiniti nominations from various organizations, including her first recognition at the Golden Globes.

When questioned in October about working with a top-tier group of directors, sherecalledan “unreal” realization on stage during a Q&A. “I was like, oh my gosh,” she mentioned. “I’m actually in a Paul Thomas Anderson movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro, and we’re promoting it and going on a tour for it. I think that’s when it really hit me.”

Seyfried, 40, entered this year’s Golden Globes as a dual acting nominee for her performance in the Peacock limited series. Long Bright River and The Will of Ann LeeThe subsequent musical film, directed and co-written by Mona Fastvold, recounts the tale of the founder of the Shakers, who introduced her spiritual convictions from England to America during the 18th century.

In September at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Emmy winner told She was initially “nervous” about playing a strong religious figure. “But at the same time, I understood that I could connect with many aspects of her… She focused on equality and the idea that hard work brings you closer to God, or whatever your higher power may be.”
