A number of prominent Hollywood actors turned the 83rd Golden Globe Awards red carpet into a space for political expression on Sunday night.
As they stepped onto the red carpet, several people were spotted wearing black-and-white lapel pins featuring the messages “Be Good” and “ICE Out,” honoring two individuals who died at the hands of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
Mark Ruffalo, Wanda Sykes, Natasha Lyonne, and Jean Smart were some of the famous individuals seen sporting the accessories upon their arrival at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
The event pays tribute to Renée Macklin Good, a 37-year-old mother of a six-year-old child who was killed by ICE officer Jonathan Ross during an operation in Minneapolis on January 7.
The pins also honor Keith Porter, a Los Angeles native who was killed by a retired ICE officer on New Year’s Eve.
The demonstration is a component of the #BeGood campaign, a program supported by the American Civil Liberties Union and coordinated by individuals in the entertainment sector.
More support is provided by advocacy groups such as Maremoto, Move On, National Domestic Workers Alliance, and Working Families Power.
Campaign organizers stated that the pins act as a reminder of “what it means to be kind to each other in the midst of such tragedy – to be a responsible citizen, caring neighbor, loyal friend, supportive ally, and compassionate human being.”

The ACLU stated that 2025 was among the most dangerous years for the organization in twenty years.
The civil liberties group also pointed out the present administration’s $100 million hiring initiative designed to increase enforcement capabilities as a factor in starting the campaign.
Around 1,000 demonstrations occurred throughout the United States during the weekend as part of the ICE Out For Good campaign.
Ms Sykes spoke candidly about her reasons for participating in the protest. “We need to speak up and shut this rogue government down,” she told Variety before the ceremony. “It’s awful what they are doing to people.”

Mr. Ruffalo, who was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama for his HBO show Task, was equally candid in his comments. “This is dedicated to Renee Nicole Good, who was killed,” he said to USA Today on the red carpet.
The actor proceeded to criticize President Donald Trump openly. “We are in the midst of a conflict with Venezuela that we unlawfully entered. He is asserting to the world that international law holds no significance for him,” Mr. Ruffalo stated.
So this is intended for her. This is for the individuals in the United States who are feeling terrorized and frightened today. I know I am one of them.
Ms. Smart, who is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for “Hacks,” shared her thoughts on the challenge of acknowledging entertainment accomplishments amid such challenging periods.

Everything feels somewhat overshadowed by the events happening in this country,” she said to E! on the red carpet, characterizing the present circumstances as “quite worrying.
The actress admitted that certain audience members become irritated when actors express political views. “I understand that some people find it bothersome when actors use such moments to discuss social and political issues,” she mentioned.
Nevertheless, Smart highlighted that she was expressing herself not as an artist but as a regular person. “I’m here talking as a human being and a mother,” she clarified.
I believe we’re somewhat at a critical moment in our nation,” Ms. Smart added, expressing optimism that “people can remain level-headed because I think that will truly be the most challenging part.
The administration of Donald Trump has supported the ICE officer involved in the event. Vice President JD Vance has criticized the mainstream media for its coverage of the incident.
It is reported that Mr. Ross acted in “self-defense,” as stated by the administration. An investigation conducted by the FBI is currently underway.
