“Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. Wait until you see my party in the back!” It was with this famous beginning—andwith an iconic outfit—that One Battle After AnotherActress Teyana Taylor won the honor of Best Supporting Actress in a Film at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
In her 2025 ELLE Women of Hollywood cover feature, Taylor said, “The most challenging aspect is being a woman in Hollywood. The more difficult part is being a Black woman in Hollywood.” She continued, “I do notice progress occurring. I see more attention being brought to women, and I believe it’s because we are breaking through the barriers, unapologetically embracing who we are. We aren’t leaving anyone with a choice: you will see us and you will hear us. And if you don’t, we will ensure you do.”
She did just that on the Golden Globes stage Sunday evening. Dressed ina bold custom Schiaparelli high fashion slit dressWith a revealing back, she appeared deeply moved, her eyes filled with tears as she expressed gratitude to her team and her “tribe.” She also gave a special mention to her “brown sisters,” saying, “Our gentleness is not a weakness. Our complexity is not excessive. Our brilliance doesn’t require approval to shine. We are entitled to be in every space we enter, our voices hold value, and our aspirations deserve a place.”

Oh my goodness, I almost didn’t write a speech because I didn’t think I’d receive this. My children upstairs, y’all better put those phones down and watch me right now! First, thank you, Father God, in the name of Jesus, for every part of this spiritual journey—each lesson, each challenge, and each blessing. Thank you to the Golden Globe voters for recognizing me and reminding me that purpose always finds its time. To my mom and dad, it’s all for you anytime—I love you so much. Thank you for being here with me tonight. To my tribe, my foundation, my joy, my daily reminder that love is an action, not just a word, and everything I do comes from that truth. To Paul “Let Him Cook” Thomas Anderson, thank you for your vision, your trust, and your brilliance. My gratitude is endless. I love you. We love you, and thank you very much for creating space for me and our entire cast. Leo, Sean, Benicio, Chase, Regina, everyone, the crew, every single person who has been involved in this project—none of this is taken lightly…Pam, Mike, Warner Brothers, Sarah, Cassandra, Natina, Lee, WME, this whole journey wouldn’t exist without you and your support. I love you, and I thank you so much. And finally, but most importantly, to my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight. Our gentleness is not a weakness. Our depth is not too much. Our light doesn’t need permission to shine. We belong in every room we enter, our voices are important, and our dreams deserve a place. Thank you so much, everyone.
