On today’s Days of Our Lives recap:

Chad, Jack, and Jennifer Clash During a Custody Mediation Session

Jennifer and Jack are getting ready to go to the mediation. Chad walks in, and the three of them talk about how they’ve been asked to meet without their lawyers present. Chad and Jennifer believe it’s a bad idea. Jack feels that they would have more freedom to express themselves without legal representatives watching over them. Jennifer and Chad finally agree, though reluctantly.

Thomas and Jeremy are hanging out at the Horton house. Thomas is unable to focus, and Jeremy encourages him to discuss what’s troubling him. He admits he feels responsible for everyone being upset with each other. Jeremy presses further, and Thomas talks about the Cat of it all and how he no longer knows if he truly wants to live with his grandparents in Boston. Jeremy believes Thomas became scared when his dad disappeared, which caused him to reevaluate his feelings. Thomas agrees but doesn’t know how to stop everything, as his grandparents are trying to make what he thought he wanted come true.

Jeremy outlines the mediation procedure to Thomas and describes how it is intended to assist individuals in settling their disagreements.

Chad, Jennifer, and Jack arrive at the mediation and are joined by their mediator. They all sit down and begin the session. She outlines the objective of the meeting and mentions that she will help them communicate in an effort to lead them toward a solution. Jeremy states that his father and grandparents are trying to collaborate to do what’s best for him and Charlotte.

The mediator inquires how Chad would handle the custody conflict. He feels his children should stay with him and describes how they have always been close and he is the only parent they have remaining. Chad recalls a moment when Jennifer offered him valuable advice about not striving to be a perfect parent, which has remained with him, causing Jennifer to tear up. He outlines what has transpired since then, and the mediator observes that Chad has made significant progress since Abigail’s passing.

The mediator questions why the Deveraux family’s stance has shifted, and Chad clarifies the situation involving Cat Greene. As Chad describes how he came to think Cat deserved forgiveness, Jennifer struggles to hide her frustration and anger. He feels she deserves forgiveness, just as anyone does after making an error. With that, he brings up Jennifer’s dependence on painkillers (And I Ooop!). Jack states that what Chad is saying is not relevant and ends the meeting.

The mediator questions whether Jennifer’s addiction is significant, and Chad apologizes for mentioning it. They choose to continue and return to Cat. Chad discusses the romantic relationship and how it evolved before and after her impersonation. Jennifer interjects, stating that he kept this secret from Thomas, which greatly upset him. Chad claims he ended the relationship right then, but self-righteous Jennifer continues pushing forward in her effort to always be fair and correct. She brings up Thomas’ desire to move to Boston and their agreement that they would tell him it wasn’t an option if Chad confirmed he was done with Cat. Then came the hug and Thomas’ accident. Chad explains what occurred and, looking back, realizes he made a mistake. Jack asks if he can promise it will be his last mistake, and Chad loses his temper. Naturally, he can’t promise he won’t make another mistake, but he can guarantee that he loves his children more than anything and will always put them first. Jennifer turns, looks Chad directly in the eyes, and says she doesn’t believe him.

The mediator seeks specific information, and Jennifer recounts her time with Thomas following the accident, including sitting by his side in the hospital. Thomas did not want Chad present, so Jennifer chose to respect her grandson’s wishes and pursue legal custody. The mediator then requests more information from Jack, who has been mostly quiet. He speaks for a brief moment before Chad interrupts, followed by Jennifer’s response.

Chad mentions that he and Melinda have developed a proposal that he hopes they will accept. He is asking Thomas and Charlotte to visit Jack and Jennifer in Boston for a month each summer, and they are also welcome to visit Salem whenever they wish. However, Chad will maintain full physical and legal custody. The mediator asks Jack and Jennifer if they have a plan. Jack states that they do, but it has recently been modified. If Chad can guarantee that he will never have any contact with Cat Greene again, they will withdraw their custody lawsuit (but how could this be legally enforced?). Additionally, they are requesting two months per year. After some back-and-forth, all parties eventually agree on the arrangement.

Jack and Jennifer go back to the Horton house and share with Thomas how the mediation proceeded successfully. They have reached a mutual understanding and explain the details to Thomas. Thomas claims the agreement is insufficient. His father previously lied about Cat and there’s no assurance he won’t do so again (brat).

What Does Felicity Ask the Cat About Her Emotions Toward Chad?Days of Our Lives

Marlena arrives in Horton Square and encounters Cat, who is waiting for Felicity. Cat asks about Sydney and whether EJ will be returning soon. Marlena states that her granddaughter is doing fine but hopes EJ remains distant. Cat mentions how kind EJ has been to her, but Marlena cautions that he will eventually change. She mentions she’s considering returning to work at the hospital and hopes Cat wants her position back. Cat enjoys working for Marlena but is worried EJ might be upset if she leaves. Just then, Felicity comes over to get some ice cream. They invite Marlena to join them, but she has other plans.

Felicity observes that Dr. Evans appears upset and believes her sister feels the same way. Cat asks her about it, and Felicity realizes she misses Chad. Cat confirms that she’s not mistaken, explaining that she’s concerned about a significant meeting he had today. With that, Cat diverts her sister’s attention with some ice cream!

Marlena Isn’t Prepared to Handle Her GriefDays of Our Lives

Julie is in her bookstore, fiddling with trinkets while Foster observes. She mentions that she rearranges items when she’s nervous. He assumes she’s concerned about the book club, but Julie is actually anxious about the custody case.

Maggie shows up for the book club feeling upset because she hasn’t completed the part they’ll be discussing. They talk about the personal account of sorrow and how much she can connect with the story. They decide to begin, and a visibly uneasy Marlena arrives a bit late (it’s somewhat of a weak book club).

The conversation about the book evokes memories of Doug, Mickey, and Victor, as well as Foster’s late wife. He looks to Marlena, who mentions she has read the book but doesn’t have anything to add. Julie attempts to lighten the mood with a joke, but Marlena feels she isn’t helping and decides to leave. They all stand up and beg Marlena not to go. She explains that it was hard for her to come in the first place and now realizes she isn’t ready for such an emotional journey. With that, she leaves. Julie is overwhelmed, but Maggie and Foster assure her that everything isn’t lost.

Later, Chad goes to the bookstore to share with Julie the positive outcome of the successful mediation. They then hug.
