Kayleigh Trappeshe announced her engagement in the funniest manner this week, and it seems she had a rather funny reaction when asked that big question.
On Wednesday, Kayleigh posted a video capturing the instant her boyfriend, Tom, proposed to her in their living room at home.
The video depicts Kayleigh seated on the floor near the fireplace while Tom prepares Alexa to play “Rainy Night In Soho” and then kneels down, with Kayleigh immediately realizing what is about to occur.
She starts crying and says, “Tell me you’re not joking,” as Tom then discloses that he is using Kayleigh’s mother’s ring.
After she agrees and they embrace, Tom, who has evidently learned some humorous techniques from his future wife, remarks, “right more there because I’m completely burning.”
Continuing with the humor, Kayleigh quips that she “doesn’t have a clue” which finger the ring should be on and mentions that she “smells like pesto” while Tom moves in for a kiss.
“It’s amusing what can occur during halftime in the game,” Kayleigh wrote while sharing the adorable video.
A Monaghan-based lip-syncher first revealed her engagement news with the assistance of her friend, Dublin comedian Joanne McNally. The two have developed a strong friendship since Kayleigh started incorporating clips from Joanne’s podcast, “My Therapist Ghosted Me,” featuring Vogue Williams.
So, it was only appropriate that Kayleigh informed her fans thather boyfriend, Tom,had suggested to her by mimicking a clip of Joanne announcing the news.
The gas video features the newly engaged Kayleigh dressed as Joanne, sporting silver hoop earrings and space buns. “Come here to me. Did you hear the news? Kayleigh Trappe, after becoming engaged,” Joanne said.
“You’re aware of her, you know her. The woman with the lips, you do, you know her. The dancing. Monaghan, you know her, she dances, she does Zumba on TV,” she said jokingly, as if she were talking on the phone.
“Sure, you know her—she does impressions of me in Vogue. Not very well these days, I have to admit,” Joanne said with a laugh.
Sure, she’s marrying a guy named Tom. She showed me the ring, you know. I had to look closely to see it, it’s such a small one. Yeah, she’s not gaining much financially now. What he does for work is clearly a passion project.
Kayleigh took out the ring box to look at her new diamond. “But anyway, now that I think about it, any woman who gets married before 40 is basically undermining herself, but that’s just how it is. Another one bites the dust,” Joanne said with a laugh.
“Everyone and their mum knows… thanks to @joannemcnally,” Kayleigh captioned the video. The upcoming bride did not feature her fiancé in the clip, as she prefers to keep her relationship private.
Notable figures quickly moved in to commend the celebrity, with Joanne taking the lead. Rather than just saying “congratulations,” the humorous woman quipped: “Very sad news, my condolences.”
Meanwhile, Jack Woolley wrote: “Joint wedding??? So happy for you two.”
