The actor and comedian, who came out in 2023, expressed his views during a recent 10-part interview. In the discussion, Brady mentioned that his life has improved since he openly accepted his true self — and added that he hopes his choice to come out will make a positive difference for others too.
“It hasn’t changed in the big way of, ‘Oh I’m out dating and all that,’ because really, I’m pretty much [staying] to myself,” Brady, 53, started.
He added, “I’m a strong advocate for genuinely supporting the younger generation. I believe that if there’s even one Black or brown child growing up in any neighborhood — any town across America — who feels down on themselves or embarrassed about who they are, I hope that when they see me and recognize me, like, ‘Oh, that’s Wayne. And he just said that? Maybe I can express myself. So I don’t have to bear that burden.'”
And that’s how I feel,” he added. “I feel lighter, because I’m myself. That allows me to be a better actor. Allows me to be abetter performer onstage. Let me become a better father. Let me be a better partner to someone in the future. I am happier, I am more radiant.

Brady is the father of his daughterMaile Masako Brady, 22, who he shares with former wife Mandie Taketa.

“I am bisexual,” he stated at that time, indicating that he is drawn to individuals irrespective of their sex or gender.
“Bi-sexual — with an open mind!” he said, laughing.
He stated that for him, “pan means being able to feel attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bisexual, or transgender.”non-binary. Being capable of being drawn in universally.
“And, I believe, at least for me, for the present, that is the right position. I interpreted ‘pan’ to mean that not only can I be drawn to any of these or types physically, but I could also be attracted to the person who is there,” he said.

“Once I opened that door within myself, I had to begin understanding who I truly am, and I needed to take responsibility for things I may have repressed, suppressed, or simply avoided dealing with. I’ve worked on many other aspects of my life up until now, and one of the final items on that list was: What is one of the last things you need in order to be genuinely happy and authentically yourself?” he said.
Brady mentioned that he’s now focused on being the “most Wayne Brady” possible.
